Dr. Mark Dunlap is highly trained and skilled. He is an experienced, Board Certified veterinarian, one of only five in Butte County, and is acutely aware of this area’s health risks and challenges.
Dr. Dunlap attended the University of California at Davis; earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1970 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1972.
Following graduation he worked as the primary surgeon for a five doctor hospital in Oakland while also participating in routine clinical practice. After experiencing a bit of big city living he chose to join his brother, Dr. Vincent Dunlap at Skyway Pet Hospital in Paradise.
Dr. Mark Dunlap purchased Skyway Pet Hospital from his brother in 1977. He is focused on companion animal practice offering complete medical care for clients who want the best for their pet. Among the services he provides are orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, flexible and rigid endoscopy, stem cell treatment,comprehensive dentistry, and internal medicine with an emphasis on diagnosing the cause of his patients’ illness.
He also has a long standing interest in avian and exotic pets. His special interest in reptiles beginning when he raised Jackson Chameleons while attending veterinary school. He has almost 40 years experience treating avian and exotic pets.
Dr. Dunlap was Board Certified in Feline and Canine medicine by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in 1991 and maintains current Diplomate status. He has taken leadership roles as past president of the North Valley Veterinary Medical Association and past president and board member of the North Valley Emergency Veterinary Clinic. His memberships include the North Valley Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.
His community service actions include pro bono care of the Paradise Police Department Canine Officer and pro bono care for indigent clients through PAWS and the Paradise Animal Shelter Helpers. He has been a VMAT member since 1995.
